THE MATINEE: Formed in 2007, The Matinée has paid its dues touring constantly on the vast Canadian club circuit. These life-long friends have embarked on multiple provincial and national tours, including their involvement with the B.C. Arts Council Artstarts Program and the B.C. Schizophrenia Society Reachout Tour. Their hardwork has not gone unnoticed as they were
selected as a finalist in the 2011 Peak Performance Project, performing to a sold-out Commodore Ballroom and winning more than $50,000 towards their career. 2011 also saw The Matinée selected as one of the top 10 artists in The Shore 104.3 FM Song Search competition, and the band was nominated for Group/Duo of the Year and Best Roots Artist at the 2011 BCCMA Awards Show. Having recently partnered up with Simkin Artist Management, The Matinée will be releasing their next album in the Spring of 2012. Look for the band to be showcasing new material at their upcoming show at the Venue!
THE WASHBOARD UNION: Canada's only 7 piece "Outlaw" outfit. The Washboard Union just completed their debut album produced by GGGgarth Richardson, with "Half Cree" produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin. The Album was mixed by John Whynot(Blue Rodeo) and will be out Spring 2012. Formerly RUN GMC, The Washboard Union played their first 2 shows under their new name at the Commodore Ballroom with 5440 this fall. You will see a lot of bands this year but you will not forget THE WASHBOARD UNION.
